Welcome to Kwangju Foreign School!

KFS is a private foreign school, located in Gwangju, South Korea. As the Founding Director and Chief Administrator, it is an honor and privilege to welcome you to KFS! Thank you for stopping by our website.

We have been inspiring academic excellence and building character since 1999 through a rigorous American-style curriculum. We focus on the whole child. Using the Common Core standards to guide instruction, KFS maintains an excellent student to teacher ratio so that each student gets the care and guidance they need to be successful.

At KFS, we are the Cougars and we have Cougar Pride! We encourage our students to be their best self each day, both inside and outside of the classroom. As Cougars, we are lifelong learners who value all people and the contributions they make to our world.

Kwangju Foreign School enjoys a tight-knit community that feels like family yet we are able to offer a variety of courses to our students. Our talented and qualified faculty members, in partnership with parents, continually work to keep our programs current with the ever-changing world in which we live.

Our doors are always open. Please reach out to any of our dedicated faculty members, your PTO Representatives, or any member of our Leadership Team. It is our privilege to serve and assist you in any way we can.

Kwangju Foreign School's First Class

History

Kwangju Foreign School opened its doors in September 1999 with an enrollment of 25 students. It was founded by Robert Holley, an international lawyer, educator, and television personality in South Korea. Mr. Holley sought to help meet the needs of foreign children in the area and to provide them with an affordable international education. Today, KFS provides a comprehensive education for foreign students and Korean nationals from a variety of countries and cultural backgrounds.

Our first school was located in the Yongsan-dong region of Gwangju. In 2012, Kwangju Foreign School moved to Geonguk-dong with a modern campus neighboring Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST).

Kwangju Foreign School is a vibrant, diverse community of students and teachers from around the world. Our teachers are highly educated, qualified professionals with a wealth of experience from their native countries. Our diverse student body and faculty work together in an engaging, stimulating and modern learning environment with an understanding and respect that enhances the learning experience.
